Why is it that we can't seem to be a consistently competitive team? LSU should be able to consistently have talent across the board, but we always have one or two guys who are really legit, that are surrounded by solid, but not great talent. It's just frustrating because LSU should be able to make the NCAA tournament more often than miss out on it.

I think we are on the way to this. I think most people would be very happy with a daddy dale clone and I think we are getting something like that right now.
The first step is playing a fun style of basketball. We have that now. At this point the fans start coming and recruiting gets easier. As you start getting recruits, you are able to get better production.
Im still comfortable with the progress we've seen and Im hoping it gets to the point that we are a given tournament team.

Let me be clear: LSU should settle for nothing less than the NCAA tourney 8 outta 10 years. Absolutely no reason why not. Make it a priority and it will happen.

Starting when? Because JJ was left with a shitty lineup 3 years removed from the tournament... I think we get there where we are 7-8 times per decade is very reasonable.

John Brady only went to the NCAAT 4 out of 11 years but when he did, he did well with the final 4 and the sweet 16.

Patience grasshopper. I think the writing is on the wall that we are getting there. CJJ walked into a mess and 2 years later we're not very far off from a tourney team. I think the recruiting is there now, maybe get a solid assistant to help with the actual coaching and LSU will be back consistently.

We are on the right path. We should have a really good team next year that I believe will make the tourney. The 15-16 season could be a really big breakout year for the team.

I think we are recruiting at that level, but they need to be coached up better. This team lost out on the tourney because of poor fundamentals and coaching adjustments.

Next year should be a good year but I agree the 15-16 team has the makings to be amazing.

grain of salt taken...this team should have and was expected to be in the tournament. CJJ needs to show that he can get them together defensively, and have a better offensive game plan than dump it to JOB, pass it out, dump it to JOB, pass it out

He tried to take advantage of having a great weapon in JOB. That isn't his normal style of offense and he is recruiting to go back to the way he wants to play. Martin is staying he said in most part to the way the offense will look next season. He knows it is going to a slashing fast paced look.

We have to have guard play to move to the next level. The guards here before JJ arrived have serious limitations in shooting, penetration, and controlling game tempo.
There is only so much coaching up that can be done. It looks like we have guard help on the way. Next year will give us a better idea on JJ's coaching.

A lot of people did not think we would make the tournament heading into the season actually. Some of us overestimated the level of talent this team had.
As for the offense, are you saying it shouldn't have been run through our best player and 2 time all-sec member? If he wasn't getting his touches, you would be bitching about not feeding him.

I think most people just expect all of a sudden for LSU to start getting top recruits and compete every year out of thin air. Give Johnny Jones some time to set a foundation and the recurits and tournaments and wins will start coming. Hell, Duke got beat in the first round this year and North Carolina got outted in the 2nd. It's not like we are world's behind that.
The guy can coach and recruit... And if anyone thinks otherwise they have zero clue what they are talking about.
