Gonna spend the night there tomorrow, but will be there all day, and in no hurry to leave Saturday morning if there is something really interesting to do.

This is a pretty spontaneous stop that we just literally decided we'd do minutes ago, so besides the obvious CFB HOF, what else is a must see? Any awesome restaurants for Friday night. And preferably family friendly.

TIA

As someone with a Larry Bird stache', I can tell you, French Lick is where it's at.

I would love to stop in French Lick and see what Ricky Roe is up to.

My wife and I used to go to a place called Between the Buns (with my 3 yr old)when we lived there. They had individual tvs at each booth, good food, and 32 oz beers. I've heard they have since opened a Tilted Kilt. They have all the major chain restaurants including a few that you mostly see in the North.

There is a restaurant/bar on campus called Legends (of Notre Dame). It's decorated with old ball player pics and jerseys. The HOF is near downtown, which has a few Irish pubs and a BW3s.

I've been to a few corporate parties here: LINK. I've never been there just to dine, but the food at the parties has always been great, and the mansion is beautiful.

Thanks guys! I didn't even think about Tilted Kilt.

Rocco's and Uptown Kitchen look pretty appealing too.

Former LSU student at ND right now:

They moved the CFB HOF to Atlanta, thats a no go. Take a long walk around campus. Its one of the most scenic campuses I've been on and a few sights like the Basilica, the grotto, the lakes, and the main building are really nice.

Tomorrow night ND's baseball team is playing downtown at Coveleski Stadium (South Bend's Single A ballpark) at 5:30, they've made a lot of improvements to it recently and its pretty nice.

As for food:
Fancy Drinks and Small Plates: LaSalle Kitchen
Cambodian Thai is cheap and awesome if you like Thai.
Fiddler's Hearth is a really damn good irish food and pub place.
Most of the family friendly stuff is about five minutes east in Mishawaka, Papa Vino's, Scotty's Brewhouse, Corndance.

For bars (if the parents want to escape):
Brothers is usually pretty happening as a night spot, The Linebacker is the Reggies/Freds equivalent, I like Corby's as its usually a bit low key/more locals.
If you have time there's a lot of craft brewery's in the area: Evil Czech is a ten minute drive away in Mishawaka with great beer, two towns over is Elkhart and their brewery Iechyd Da, along with a few others in town that don't have brew pubs.

Thanks for the info

And frick! I had an opportunity to stop and see the HOF a few years ago but I just wanted to hurry and get to Chicago. I was really looking fwd to doing that tomorrow. The Notre Dame walk sounds like an awesome idea though. Is there some kind of sports related Notre Dame museum?

Conveniently located near the gigantic book store on the south part of campus there's the Eck Visitor Center that has a bunch of really cool historic Notre Dame sports stuff but that might be as close as it gets to a museum. Legend's, one of the on campus restaurants, has some jerseys hanging and some memorabilia. Be sure to catch the stadium and touchdown Jesus (Hesburgh Library) too.

You can usually take a tour of the stadium on Friday's and Saturday's but unfortunately it looks like they're not doing it this weekend because there's something going on.
