Young vs Old - new political machines?

We all complain about the two party system when it comes to politics. We have factions in both parties that help or hinder their candidates being elected and we still end up with the same results, good or bad, and basically do the same thing over and over each election.
My question - say over the next 20-30 years could there be a strong possibility that our politics could turn into an old vs young type political format? The young seem to be making noise with the electronic social politicking while the old are less inclined to adapt.
Is the time near when the young will say hey, we can get more done for us young people by joining forces to attain our goals as opposed to party affiliation agendas? Will the old folks say hey, these snotnosed kids are getting too powerful as a group and we'd better forget the D and R behind our name and ban together to protect our way of life?
Twenty to thirty years down the road? I can see it happening.

as long as the young continue to be divided between Rs and Ds, they will not unite against the older political class. The youth at face seem more united, but I guarantee that it is not so.

At some point the disparity in wealth between the young and old will put them into separate economic classes. They will gravitate toward opposing sides in the class warfare that politicians try to exploit for power.

Boomers' refusal to address deficits, and willingness to pile debt on their kids' shoulders will come back around. Deservedly so. Most irresponsible generation in US history. What goes around, comes around.

The eventual need to pay down government debt will fall on the young and productive. They will have resentment for the elderly who irresponsibly ran up the debt for entitlements that the elderly benefitted from. It will be a major factor in the wealth disparity between the young and old.
