Will the NFL ever change the playoff seeding method?

Do ya'll think the NFL will ever change the playoff seeding method? I think they should keep the 4 Division winners and 2 WC teams. But seed the playoffs according to record. That might have a WC team be seeded 3th and a Division winner seeded 6th.

I hope they never mess with the current playoff system. It is the best in sports, IMO. It's not too long like baseball and basketball, competitive games every round, and the reg season means something. If they ever add more teams/rounds, I will be very upset.

Probably not but they should. There is no reason 12-4 SF should be on the road at 8-7-1 GB. I actually don't have a problem with the Saints having to go on the road to Philly. They only lost 1 more game than us and winning your Div should mean something.
I don't think the should seed solely on record, but a good compromise would be a 1st Wildcard spot exemption. If the 1st Wildcard team in has 2 more wins than the lowest division winner they get to host. So this year SF would be the 4 seed and GB would be the 5. There is no reason the 2nd wildcard team should ever host whatever the record.
I like it because it doesn't eliminate the reward of winning your division, but it does reward a team that is head and shoulders above a crappy division winner. Note that in this years case SF would be the 4 seed despite having a better record (12-4) than 3 seed Philly (10-6). It's not reseeding the entire bracket, but rather just one game (the 4 vs 5 game).

No. This conversation comes up from time to time but I am sure they were thrilled with the playoff uncertainty in the NFC going into the last week. Pure gold from a marketing / ratings standpoint.
Divisions aren't going away and neither will the seeding rules.
