I think this movie is terribly, terribly underrated. There's something kind of brilliant and realisitic about it to a degree.

Aniston's performance is really strong esp after she invites Vaughn to the concert only to be utterly disappointed...again. I know people who have done that in relationships that aren't working--they do everything they can to try to make it work and to hold on to the relationship only to learn the lesson the hard way.

This movie is subtly empowering in the sense that it cuts against the grain of the societal brainwashing that we're all supposed to have a "happily ever after" by pairing off in romantic relationships. Instead, these characters learn that the relationship they're in is holding themselves back and keeping them from becoming the adults they should be. Think about it: Jen's character goes to Europe and Vince's character finally becomes the brother and business partner his family needs.

The film is about growing up--that's what the ending is about--they're finally able to treat each other as adults by being happy for the other person even if that means they're not in each others' lives. Sometimes, that's the healthiest decision we can make.

ALL OF THIS.

Such a stereotypical best friend. That chick basically helped ruin their relationship.

I liked the movie but I thought the idea of how they started dating was very unrealistic.

A guy at a game with his friend sees a girl with her boyfriend and finds her attractive and buys her a hot dog.

After the game he stops her, while she is walking away with her boyfriend, and annoys the frick out of here until she dumps her boyfriend and goes on a date with him? Like that would ever happen.
