The Middle (ABC) hits 100 episodes tonight

I've seen maybe 4 episodes of the show back in season one. Don't know a whole lot about it other than that the review sites I look at don't hate it. Which means that they hold it in higher esteem than anything produced by Chuck Lorre.
I can't speak to its quality personally, as I've seen so little, but the reason I don't watch it is because I don't really have an interest in the 'Family Sitcom' right now.
I do find it fascinating that this show seemed to fly pretty well under the radar of this board and other places I read and is hitting a pretty important milestone tonight. I don't know if that speaks to the demo it targets or the quality of the show, but I'm inclined to lean towards the former.
The people that would seem to enjoy the show don't seem like the people that populate this board either by choice or because they're too busy. The reason I don't think quality is the issue is because bad sitcoms are still discussed here. Seemingly no one here likes Two and a Half Men, but it still gets brought up.
This show is just never talked about. I find that really weird.

I've seen a bout 10 minutes of this show in its lifetime and I couldn't decide in that 10 minutes whether I liked it or not.

I think it's underrated as frick.
I watched it when it first came out, and immediatley thought it was a blatant rip off of malcolm in the middle. Scatter brained parents, youngest child is smart but awkward, middle one is trying to fit in as best they can, oldest one is the "cool" one that people like (yes I know there's a 4th child in MitM, back off). Hell even the damn name.
BUT, it kinda grew on me. All 3 children have their moments of being LOL funny. Then I quit watching for a while. Then they quit playing the office and seinfeld in the early after work time slots recently and started playing the Middle so that's what I watch when I get home. It's a good show, although like you said no one talks about it.
I'd suggest giving it 2 episodes. Obviously every show can have hits and misses, but I imagine you'll get the BASIC gist of it with 2 eps. Pick up on everyone's mannerisms and whatnot. If you hate it, you didn't really lose anything.

The kid actors are horrible and the wife is annoying. If I were the dad I'd be gone.

Is this the show with the Janitor from Scrubs as the dad? My gf likes it and I've seen some of it, it's not bad

Yes. And I think I overestimated when I said I've seen 4 episodes, I may have seen pieces of 4 different eps, but I've not watched very much of this show at all.

It's this era's Malcom in the Middle. Not as good as Malcom but decent enough for what it is.

Sue is pretty funny. Brick is still kind of funny, but he's gone down with age. It's nothing special, but it's not bad either.

Haven't seen a single episode. Not sure why I picked up Modern Family yet never watched a single episode of The Middle.
