Yes because cars that are full of gasoline never catch fire after an accident.

If you thought Tesla was a buy before this, I don't know why a drop in the stock price would change your mind.
But this is Tesla's major problem from a marketing standpoint. Not that its cars might catch on fire (which they will), but that when they do, it's inevitably going to be national news. How many Fords caught fire this week?

I guess I was just taken aback by the fact that it was caused by road debris.
I would wager no Fords caught on fire due to that??

I dunno, I almost got killed driving a Ford due to some road debris. Granted the car did not actually catch on fire, but that was more a question of luck than anything else. Gas was everywhere.

Thats Teslas PR strategy. There was no crash. So yeah, hard to believe a car ran over something and then caught on fire
Plus, the looming battery shortages in 2015 are going to make it tough to for Tesla to meet demands
But if course another road blaze incident might shrink demand

This isn't exclusive to Tesla cars or even EV's... I can think of 2-3 people that have told me they know someone with a new Mercedes or other brand new high-end, high-tech vehicle that have suddenly burst into flames due to electrical issues. I think it's pretty common.
edit - I guess this somewhat different if they're saying it's the result of road debris. But my point is this makes the news because it's Tesla.

I said it in the other thread and I'll say it again here: IF there will be a battery shortage, it will be short-lived. If you can predict a battery shortage over a year into the future, don't you think the battery manufacturers can plan ahead? Just like they did with all previous booms in battery demand (laptops, cell phones, etc.).
