Great movie with great performances. Best movie I've seen in awhile.
Sorry if Germans, I googled.

I'm bumping this thread for day people because this was a great movie that didn't get a very wide release. It may not have played in Baton Rouge at all.
Michael Shannon of Boardwalk Empire gives a brilliant performance as real-life mob hit man Richard Kuklinsi, also known as "The Iceman."
Shannon is so good that you find yourelf caring about this absolute monster.
The supporting cast is solid with Wynona Ryder, Ray Liotta, Chris Evans, and James Franco.
I highly recommend it and I won't be surprised if you hear more about it come Oscar time.

I really enjoyed the film. I've read the book and seen the Iceman Interviews years ago and was pretty excited when I heard a movie was coming out. I was worried that they would screw it up but they did a great job. They captured what a monster he was while leaving out the most gruesome parts of his career. I highly recommend it.

in the biography i read it was implied the iceman believed he was being poisoned in jail - is that touched on in the movie?

Why would they leave out the most gruesome parts?

I should have said most gruesome part, not parts. He was known to chain victims in a remote cave and leave a video camera rolling to watch the rats eat them alive. They left that out of the movie but the rest is in there.

Good deal. It's definitely worth a watch.

To the guy who asked about his death, it's mentioned that he died in prison shortly before he was to testify against a Gambino family member and that foul play was suspected.
