I think I've mentioned this before, but my best hunting and security dog was a poodle in the 70's-early 80's.
Damn fine tracker, retriever, and very few false alarms at night...if she barked, something was there.
She loved the outdoors; she refused to come in the house. Finest dog I ever had.
