A lot of them are. My point was that they don't have to be. It's just a word and it only has power when they let it affect them. Tiger F@g just showed us all how he took the power from the word "fig". He doesn't let it bother him and he even put it in his TD handle to completely conquer the negative impact that it could have if he allowed it to.

I was refering to gays coming out. It's a horrible experience for some and not so bad for others. It all depends on their environment and their support system.

I disagree. At one time both blacks & gays were looked down upon and very much oppressed. Now, not so much. Gays are openly accepted by the majority, especially people 40 and under. The same goes with blacks. Not so long ago they were severly oppressed. It wasn't until my parents were in highschool in the late 60's/early 70's that schools were desegregated. One generation later, when I was in highschool I had many black friends and I still do. My roomate is Black. Blacks, as well as people who are openly gay are generally accepted and more prevalent in most proffesions. The "oppressed" that you speak of are experiencing less and less oppression with each passing day. Hell, we have a black president and openly gay senators, congressmen, mayors, etc. Times have certainly changed and your thought process should as well.
