What's your opinion on the Kubota ZG127E-54? I would be cutting 3-3.5 acres. Price is $5,299. If you don't recommend that one is there anything in that price range that you would recommend?

If you're truly looking for quality, buy an X Mark.

Please email Scag, Kubota, Dixie Chopper, and John Deere and tell them that they are doing it wrong. I get it that you are biased towards one brand but to say that it is the only brand of quality is just silly.
OP, I have heard good things but I also know that the pumps and motors are not the same as on their commercial series.

Looking to stay in the 5,000 price range. The kubota seems like it is more commercial grade at that price than some of the other commercial brands that offer residential models. Really trying to figure out if there is another brand around that same price that is a better quality.

Where are you located? I honestly believe that most of the mowers are of all good quality but whats really important is a good dealer. Find what dealers are around your area and go ask questions. You should have lots of them and they should be more than willing to help, if not, move on. I know the Scag dealer in BR will bend over backwards to help customers but that may not be the case somewhere else and it may be Hustler that is the good dealer.

Honestly, your best bet is to take that $5k and find a fire-sale on a used commercial rig. There are lots of people that buy commercial mowers for light use at home and then circumstances change and they sell a practically new mower for 60-70% of purchase price. A commercial mower that is clean and under 500 hours is pretty much new. I cut 4 acres and I have a commercial Gravely that is 6 years old and I've never even changed a belt on it, just keep the blades sharp and the oil changed.
You'll be a lot happier with a commercial mower in the long term and if you find a good deal and take care of the thing, you'll get most of your money back when you sell it.

I have tried but it seems like all of the equipment places only sell one or two brands so they are more than willing to talk up their own brand but it is difficult to get what appears to be an honest comparasion from them to a brand they don't sell. For example, I dont expect I will go to a place that seels only SCAGs and have him say the Gravely is better. Ascension equipment sells and services the Kubota

That sounds like a great idea, any advice as to how I would go about finding one in the Ascension Parish area. Also delivery is an issue since I don't have a trailer and don't plan on trying to get a zero turn in and out of the bed of my F150 (Dealer will deliver).
