Atlantica Online. FTP turn based MMO (think Final Fantasy)

Steam finally fixed their download of the game. I played this game a couple of years ago and LOVED it, but the guild leader got into a motorcycle accident and things fell apart. Guilds can control cities and get benefits from it but it can be taken from them. You can play without buying a thing and and it's still great. The maps are real world and the zones you visit rep the countries that they are located in.
You hire and upgrade your own party of mercs of various types.

I think they stopped the pop up messages he talks about because I don't remember them. If you decide to play let me know. There is a mentor system the doesn't require you to be in the same place or in the same group.
