So, playing BI on PC has sparked my interest in other FPS/RPG type games i've missed out on.
While looking at Metro 2033, came across the STALKER series.
Ive always found Chernobyl, Pripyat, and abandoned cities/post apocalypse/man-made disaster settings fascinating
the series scored fairly decent on Meta Critic. So I thought i'd ask here... STALKER series any good? More specifically, is each title $20s worth of good?
looks creepy as frick but i'd have an AK-47 so id feel safe
Just saw this on steam, nice review brannen

Imagine a dark and scary place filled with monsters. Add in some glitches, bad AI, Goldeneye sound effects, and terse looking men sitting around a camp fire and you have the STALKER series. Highly recommended.

I have tried all of them a few times, but for some reason I can't seem to get into them and I really want to.
If you wait for a sale you should bet them for $5 each.

This. I even played them with what were really well done, professional level mods and could never motivate myself to even finish the first game. Metro is a much better game if you haven't played it.

They are pretty good, I've played them all but Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat are definitely the best. It's fricking crazy at the beginning when you are totally overmatched and basically clutching an AK-47U hoping to not piss off those invisible assholes. Later on you pick up powers and sweet guns so it isn't always so difficult.

You'll spend half of your time simply running across the maps.

Gamersgate has all 3 for $10.

I liked STALKER better. Metro wasn't bad, but it was too short and too linear.

I got the Chernobyl one for $1.99 from Amazon during some sales. Steam key too.

About to give these game another go, I am re-downloading and I have the complete mod downloaded.

I literally redownloaded it yesterday as well as the Complete and the Lurk mods, trying to figure out which to try. I've used Complete before, but for whatever reason I just could never get into the game. I'd play for a while but eventually uninstall it before completing it.

Hmm complete says it can't find my copy of the game. I wonder if it is set to default install on C: and I have it on E:
EDIT
Just read where you have to start the game once first.

Did you download the executable version of Complete? There's no option to manually locate the directory?
If not, I believe you can also download it in zipped form and then just manually place the mod into your game folder.

I haven't really played them a bunch but I've owned them for years. Heard nothing but great things about it.

Gonna have to consider this deal. These sales kill me.
