Why would you let an all pro left tackle like Jake Long sign with another team?

Dude stays hurt all the time. Not worth the contract he wants.

Because his play has been declining the past couple of years?

He wasn't all-pro the last 2 years, FYI.

What everybody else said.

Plus, I think they feel good about moving Jonathan Martin to LT where he played when Long was injured.

Then drafting another Tackle, and either moving them to RT, or putting them at LT and keeping Martin at RT.

Good move to let him go, IMO.

Exactly this. He was good, but couldn't stay healthy. Shelling out the cash he wanted wasn't worth it when we needed to focus on other parts of the roster.

Because they drafted Jonathan Martin from Stanford last year and he played out of position at right tackle. When Long got hurt, he switched to his natural side on the left and did fine.

Also, they are about to sign Eric Winston to man the right side if Long finally signs in St. Louis. Cheaper and younger all round. More money for other positions.

Your post is dumb.

This, Miami isn't gonna go contend with the patriots or anything but they've made some good signings and look to be improving as a team, which is really all you can ask at this point.
