Romancelli-I knew wouldn't make it. I loved Marcello's and was so disappointed when they closed(but, looks like they'll be back in old Calendar's on Perkins/Essen).

Bushwood BBQ- I wanted to try and I never got around to it. This is their last week open

Bravo- I thought the mall crowd loved this place! Ha, ha! Another chain moves in to take its place, Louie Bar, which was talked about on here a few days ago.

Damn. It's really good. Back in that shopping center, though. No visibility. I love Bushwood.

Different Marcello, unfortunately.

Jimmy Swaggart alone should have kept this place in business.

Bad location, IMO. Seems like nothing lasts too long there.

went there once, was ok but didnt ever think of reason to go back

Liked it the time I went, just think that is a bad location for them. If they are just serving sammiches, I think they need a drive through. They would make a killing

I went there a couple times and saw no one in it, and it was normal chain food. As far as chains go, Bar Louie is an improvement.

Yep, the Marcellos near Essen on Perkins is the same family that runs Mandina's from what I've read...not Gene and his dad. I think they are getting out of Baton Rouge now.

makes sense, I thought the menu was very very Mandinas-ish when I read it

Took me twenty minutes to find Bushwood, great little lunch place but bad location and no signage of where it is.

For real. Bravo! is the closest thing to authentic Italian food that I've come across.

Frankie was the manager of the Mandina's in Mandeville. He's not related (at least I don't think) to the family that owns Mandina's.

I'm not sure that Mandina's is going to have any connection to the restaurant he's opening in BR. ETA, Although, I just found his website, and it appears, as someone stated above, that he's essentially replicating Mandina's menu there.

He and his family have been in and around the restaurant business for a long time. If he's got his shite together, his place has the potential to be pretty good.

I never ate at the former Marcello's in BR (which I understand to be people out of Lafayette, and not related to this one). I heard good things about it, though.
