Yeah people forget he lived in TX just a year ago. More of a Texan than Nebraskan.

I'm not sure which is more lame. This thread coming up every other day or someone posting that "Lacouture is really a Texan" in it. He lived in CS for less than 6 months and played all of 1 season of high school ball there. He's from CT and moved to CS after committing to A&M. He then moved to Lincoln after committing to Nebraska.

My vote is that this will be a trend for the near future and we will continue to reach further and further like this yr for the talent necessary to win the SEC West

What's your point Matisyeezy? The original poster asked a question and I gave him my opinion.
RSJ is an example of what Im talking about. The LSU brand is still strong in Texas for sure but the A&M brand is hotter at this time especially for offensive players. They will get a few guys next yr that wouldve went to LSU in the past. They will even get 1-2 from Louisiana next year if they perform as well as they did last yr. These same players wouldnt have given A&M the time of day two years ago.

LSU has found a way this year to find its players elsewhere. Thats what good programs do they find a way. They dont make excuses. See new OC as well regarding this.
It's a testament to the LSU brand and the recruiting staff that we can recruit coast to coast now when needed.
These guys know what they are doing and will continue to crank out wins and NFL players.

There were a number of factors that contributed to LSU not signing any players from Texas. The first is that it was a lean year for talent in Texas. The players from Texas did not compare favorably to players from other states this year due to random chance. Therefore, the effort to recruit players from Texas was less.

Second, Texas A&M joining the SEC and having the successful season they had increased the competition for the talent that was available in Texas. A&M had plenty of sizzle to sell players, and they had a large class for 2013 due to taking a small class for 2012. They were able to load up on players at the few positions where the talent was concentrated, DT and WR.

Third, LSU's national profile was higher than ever after the 2012 season, and they used that to pursue higher profile players from other states. This is one factor that doesn't get enough attention, but LSU had the luxury of being more selective in 2013 than to need kids from Texas.

Going forward Texas will likely have more talent in most years, and LSU will target several players from Texas most years. The competition will be slightly greater from the usual suspects plus the other SEC schools will expand their presence into Texas. There will be few extraordinarily large classes like A&M's this year. So the greater amount of talent should distribute among the schools a little more evenly, and LSU will get a few players from Texas most years. The players LSU takes from Texas will be players that the LSU coaches truly want.

someone posted a ranking a couple of months ago, I think, that showed we were in decent to good shape on many of the Texas Top 10 for next year...

It appears there is 6 players from Texas in 247's 2014 top 50.

It appears we are in EXCELLENT shape for at least 2 of them.

Quite conceivable LSU will land 33% of Texas' best (of 247) players.

Also quite possible that we'll have as many of the Texas top 6 as either UT or aTm as it appears the other 4 players at this point are spread out between UT, aTm, and Bama.

Sensitive much? This thread is repetitive and there are 30 more exactly like it, most containing the same incorrect info you posted. Repeating false info over and over to each other to make you feel better (though I'm not sure why it really matters where Lacouture is from) is pretty pointless.

And why exactly wouldn't I jump in the conversation when things concern A&M? Hell half the threads on this board are about players A&M is recruiting or are Texas kids that we might recruit. It's not exactly rocket science why I'd be here. FFS this thread is titled the future of TX Recruiting. You think that might concern an Aggie?

Then don't come here and read the "30 repetitive threads". And if you CHOOSE to read them, don't cry about it.

meh, I've got no issue with you here. You don't really flame, and you're usually pretty logical. It's good to have folks from other schools give their side when it's done in a civil manner.

I apologize if it rubs some of you the wrong way but I was simply correcting a common factual error repeated on this board.
