Artist sent me some of the most perplexing music

I am a cajun/zydeco DJ at the LSU student radio station KLSU and get sent music all the time. This artist sent me a CD saying he was a country musician and had a song about Louisiana. I listened to it and it was pretty bad but what was strange about it was his accent sounded very weird.
Turns out the guy is a German country/western singer singing about eating jambalaya and listening to Cajun music and trucking etc. Is this common in Europe this is some weird shite.
