that position is all about the shuttle time, not the 40.

Ali Highsmith also had a slow forty if I remember correctly and he was a beast at LSU.

How many QB's will a DE have to chase for 40 yards anyways?

I don't think anyone really knows for sure Herron's 40 time but I would wager that he is faster than what is posted on Rivals.

He certainly looks faster than that going by the eyeball test. He also has a quick burst off the line. He is plenty fast.

5.06 is plenty fast for a DE. I doubt Sam Montgomery is faster than that even though he was a 4.44 coming out of high school and a 4.65 last year. He put on a bunch of weight and has definitely slowed down. Look for him to be scraping 5.0 at pro day. Now if 5.06 is as much bullshite as Sam's 4.44, then he's too slow for DE. Anyway Heron will probably end up a hybrid DT/DE. I've read that he has a frame to take a lot more weight.
