What can some of you guys that follow HS football in that area tell me about Jay Washington, S, out of St. Paul's?

I've seen him play several times. He provides great support against the run and can be very disruptive when blitzing. He also Has the ability to play center field and roam the middle in pass coverage. Overall, he's a great playmaker. Only thing he lacks is overall explosiveness and substantial speed. I think he's better than his McNeese pledge; I think he's a ULL/ULM/La Tech level talent.

Eh. all these schools are the same level. Except I'd put Tech a slight head above McNeese. I know ULM and ULL are decent right now, but historically speaking (as in the last 7-8 years), those 3 schools are about the same.

fwiw, McNeese has beaten Middle Tennessee this year. There's no doubt in my mind that McNeese could compete with the Sun Belt. They would probably be middle of the pack, but compete nonetheless.

I mainly meant that he's a mid-major FBS-level talent, rather than FCS.

I know. I wouldn't really call ULL and ULM mid major. Maybe low-major.

A big factor in his commitment was his former HS teammate Dylan Long, who plays FB for the Cowboys.

on who? ULLM? or Miss. St., who he apparently got an offer from? (I don't buy that)

I've had plenty of back and forth's with him. He wouldn't talk much after ULL wouldn't schedule McNeese anymore after that last beatdown. He talks now that they have a decent coach and they have recruited some decent athletes that are above ULL level.

ULL

I had no idea he claimed a Miss State offer though. Interesting.

Hudspeth did bring in some better talent.

His Mississippi St. offer was apparently contingent upon signing another safety higher on their board. It has since been revoked, I was told.
