The guy is a solid second round pick. Had he stayed he would have been a first rounder next year. Not saying lottery, but a first round pick. Hamilton is a skilled player. Can score with both hands in the post and will be a good pick and pop guy (they run a lot of pick and roll in NBA). I always thought he had a real shot to stick. Now he has to earn his contract in summer league which he will do for another NBA team or a euro team.

Dude leaves early thinking he is going to Europe and he gets drafted by the Heat.

LOL he never thought he was going to Europe... Scouts told him 2-5th round (they are vague by design) when he made his decision. His Dad also did his own reconnaissance with a lot of different folks and got the 2-3 rd vibe.

You do know there's only 2 Rounds in the NBA Draft, right? There is not option for a 5th round. Stop making crap up.

Well don't I look brilliant! Lol. I know nothing about the draft (obviously) so I must have completely misunderstood what his father told me. Sat beside him on a flight from Singapore to Penang, Malaysia the day after the coach quit. He commented on my LSU shirt and mentioned his son. He was sure he was going to get drafted but apparently I completely fubar'd what he told me. I showed him the tiger roping thread about his son declaring and he got a kick out of it.

Yes I know; cool story bro.

I could see where he thought he'd get picked. Height is one attribute that can't be coached, and he has that to go with decent range on his shot. I could see where he plays quite a few seasons as a backup, as basically the basketball version of a middle relief pitcher.

Think of it this way- how many NBA teams would keep a 7 footer who can hit free throws and isn't rail-thin on the roster, to soak up some minutes?
