I thought about going that route, but to be honest I couldn't make up my mind on on which LB I would go with... which is a new and very nice problem. I'm not sure why I'm not hearing more talk about Phillips... He looks legit.

I think Thompson starts stealing playing time by the end of his freshman year, and will be a regular contributor on special teams.

There is a spot open on the 2 deep at safety for the taking. Also, at least 1 of the linebacker recruits will see significant playing time this year on the D not just special teams.

Odds are some of the early enrollees will see the field first.

Of the five, SNP Reid Ferguson gets an immediate shot with Joey Crappell/Alex Russian gone (& the walk-on Boudreaux kid as the lone returnee).

LB's Ronnie Feist & Lamar Louis will get some good looks with SLB Francois, WLB Baker, & MLB Hatcher gone, but will competition light a fire under MLB Minter, SLB Taj Jones,& WLB Luke Muncie to keep their spots?

Of the incoming Fall frosh, WR's can get on the field the fastest, and I think of the 3 new WR's, Travin Dural can best provide the deep threat situationally that we'll be missing now that Rueben Randle is gone.

Defensively, my heart wants to pick Fall frosh LB Debo Jones because he is so ultra-athletic, instinctive, & fundamentally sound, but with a position change from MLB to OLB and being behind the early enrolees/returning upperclassmen, I just don't see it happening early. So my head says DE Danielle Hunter can see significant backup snaps behind Mingo at LDE with Ken Adams leaving & the under-achieving Chancey Aghayere as Hunter's main competition at backup. Then again, SS Corey Thompson could also see significant snaps behind Loston as well.

I agree.

Lack of bulk will keep him from playing MLB and his 4.4 speed makes too much sense not to switch him to OLB right now. He is currently 25 pounds lighter than Hatcher was.

If only he could magically put that on, I could see them theoretically keeping him at MLB and beating out Minter by the end of the year.

Hatcher
please don't mention him, im going to have dreams of him bowing to trent in bama this year, spearing mo claiborne, and Masoili dragging him in the endzone

That's assuming Loston pans out. Also, I'm not limiting my prediction to earning a starting spot, but, rather, working themselves into the rotation.

I expect Reid to get guaranteed playing time as the long snapper.

Jeremy Hill already has the size(6'2" 225) to get on the field and is also already enrolled and ready to go for spring. I see him as the backup fullback this year and will see the field on a lot of third down situations as a ball-carrier/pass protector.

I see Debo playing a lot of special teams this year until he bulks up. He can potentially be the third best gunner behind TM7 and Landry.
