Every season I make a conference away game. This year I'm going to TN. Just wondering for those who have been what are the best watering holes/nightlife around campus.

Calhoun's on the River - right by stadium, tons of LSU fans 5 years ago
Bars on The Strip:
Half Barrel - tons of LSU fans 5 years ago
Hanna's
Tin Roof
Bar Knoxville - equivalent to The Station
Old College Inn
Roaming Gnome
Cool Beans
There are some others, but there's a start.
Sassy Ann's is an awesome bar in a 3 story house near campus, but off the beaten path.
Head to the Old City for some more options(near downtown), if that is not enough. There is a 3 story club called Southbound, Barley's Taproom & Pizzeria, and some others.
Market Square has a few good bars as well such as Preservation Pub. Market Square is located downtown near the campus and stadium.

It's a great trip. I have lots of family in the Knoxville area, so I've probably been to more games in Neyland Stadium than any other besides Tiger Stadium. Their tailgating atmosphere is much different from LSU's because of the design of their campus; it's more like tailgating in downtown Baton Rouge than on campus. You really are on streets in the middle of a city rather than on a separate campus with lots of grassy areas.
DO NOT PARK ON CAMPUS ON GAME DAY. With very few exceptions, the on-campus parking spots are assigned to boosters/season ticket holders, and you will get towed and have to deal with a huge headache. Plan to set up in the parking lot of a restaurant or bar, which will probably run you about $20 for the space. If you can get there the night before and leave your car that's even better, but it's not always possible (because they are full of customers' cars).
Anyway, there are a million bars all down Cumberland Avenue ("The Strip"), which basically leads right to the stadium. Charlie Pepper's is fun, BAR Knoxville, and New Amsterdam are rowdy and will be overrun with LSU and UT fans on Friday night. Another poster mentioned it already, but I also enjoy Calhoun's for its view, though it's a bit pricey and packed on game day. You will get a good view of the Vol Navy from there, though.
Not sure if I'll be making the trip this year, but either way have a great time and Geaux Tigers!
ONE OTHER WARNING: The city/campus police are very serious about giving open container tickets if you are walking around with just a beer can or bottle. Pour it in a cup and you should be fine.

Knoxville is awesome. Has some great places, reminded me of LSU's North Gate area, but better!
