Now that Winston is FSU bound. Who are the QBs that we go after hard now? Lambert, Liggins, Alford? I personally hope we go after Lambert.

What say you?

I think Liggens is our biggest (pun intended) Target

Then Alford but he might go MLB route.

If we don't get Liggens than we go after Lambert

I hope so, but I wouldn't jump too quickly on that. BOL and TideSports writers think Alec Morris from Texas is going to be pursued heavily now. Neal Burcham too.

Why don't you think Lambert will go to LSU?

I wouldn't count Tyler Cameron out yet if he takes all of his visits.

Question: If we don't get a "big time" QB this year, do we have to take a QB this year since we took two last year?

I know you'd like to get one every year, but will it be a disaster if we don't take one?

imo, it will not be a disaster. It is more of a want than a true need. I think the plan was to take two last year (Mett and Rivers) and two this year. Randall fell into our lap, and so we are really just looking for one.

High school class wise, they fall like this:

2009 - Mett (he's really the replacement for C. Garrett)
2010 - no one (Lee didn't show up)
2011 - Rivers/Randall
2012 - ??

If recruits stayed their entire eligibility, I think all you need is about 4 over 5 years. I think we're pretty much on pace whether we sign one this year or not. Yes, someone could leave early, and that is why you want to sign one, but it is not a need and certainly not a disaster.

Paradoxically, if we were to sign 2 QBs this class and both make it to campus, imo we would be practically begging for problems down the road. IF you sign 4 5 to play 4 guys in two years, you will have a great deal of difficulty signing a stud for the next 2 years or so. At about the same time you will also have some attrition as it becomes clear who the losers will be. That could lead to disaster.

Mett and Rivers will be the one-two punch for several years into the future. A solid QB recruit may be difficult right now. Maybe in a couple years.

Don't count out Randall. I, for one, think he plays before Rivers.

After summer workouts and one "turtles" practice, Shea Dixon basically inferred this same belief.

I don't have many connections, but the one thing that I keep hearing them say is that Mett is a flake. The people that I talk to say that Mett is sorta a free spirited type, not really serious yet. He will come around, but I think Rivers and Randall are ahead of him as of now.

Longstoryshort: We need to get a QB this year.

rivers looks the furthest behind right now. doesn't really matter because it will be some time before he or randall play significant snaps. a healthy mett is the future, but you have to consider the possibility of him going early to the draft after a couple of years. may be between randall and rivers to start in just a few short years.

With Lambert committing to UVA, Alec Morris has committed to Bama.
