Catastrophe syndrome

This post is about the fans. (the above subject came from Saban while here) We tend to expect something bad. Remember GA in 2003? When they scored to tie with just a few minutes, the fans rallied and cheered L-S-U and gained fame for it.
When Bama scored their last TD and we were still ahead by three, the stadium remained silent. Sure the fans cheered each last down and tried to cheer when we ran twice for nothing, but I believe the fans expected something bad. A cheer for L-S-U similar to 2003 would have made a huge difference. I kept trying, but really only the band or student section can create that atmosphere.
After the game, I consoled an older Bama fan (sixties) in a houndstooth hat and had a nice discussion. He said, "I wish we had your offensive coordinator!" He drew the attention of several LSU fans and told us that Saban keeps trying to pass with the QB who is really not a strong passer. That was entertaining.
Watch for the beginnings of the famous Saban meltdown. Miss STate will have had two weeks to prepare for Bama. If State beats Bama next week at Tuscaloosa, it will be tough to be in the Bama press. Another Bama fan told me about how the Bama press is afraid of Saban. He said that if the wrong question is asked, two goons escort him out of the room. Hard to believe? Remember his responses to LA press when he got touched?

Good stuff. Our program has changed by leaps and bounds since that UGA game in '03. Fan's expectations change, we were undefeated then, and aren't now, and didn't have a lot of hope coming into this game like we did vs. UGA that year.
Would have been neat to hear.

On 98.1 I heard them compare the crowd to the 03 GA game. My opinion was that after Bama scored the last 7, we assumed something bad would happen.
