Anyone have any advice/pointers for grilling a whole NY Stip?
Or should I just buy a tenderloin instead?
The Plan: Trim, olive oil, salt, pepper, grill to a bit over rare
TIA

I've done a few of them and they come out just fine. Be sure not to go much past medium rare or it will turn to leather. Use a thermometer. I prefer them over whole ribeyes but I do both. Sams has them but you have to ask for a whole one.

I love a good strip...Paul Prudhomme's Meat Magic works good, too.

Don't know the size of the roast but let's say it is 3 pounds.
put the Room Temp roast in a 500º preheated oven for 20 min.
reduce heat to 400º and bake for 15 more min. That will give you a rare roast with a nice outside crust.
now you will get a little smoke out of that oven but small price to pay.
