How important is Marcus Freeman to Brian Kelly?

My Notre Dame friends said the same thing. And that the ND Admins wanted to make a change. They think LSU is a soft landing for him FWIW. Not upset with the hire but I preferred bringing back Aranda.

Freeman was the hottest DC on the market last year and he's lived up to the hype. Over their last 4 games the Notre Dame defense went 14 quarters without allowing a touchdown. They were playing shite teams but that's solid defense regardless of opponent. It won't surprise me if they're ready to promote him to HC

Not sure about that. Kelly has always been a good recruiter even before Freeman was there.

Probably pretty important. But Kelly hired Marcus Freeman so I see no reason why he won’t hire another great DC.

then why is cincy having it's best recruiting class in years since freeman left? cincy barely averaged in the top 65 teams in fbs for recruiting during freeman's time there. Notre Dame wasn't in the gutter when freeman showed up.

they were 9th, 18th, 15th, 10th and 10th in the years before freeman. ND's current class will not finish in the top 5 because of all the space other teams have left to fill and we've already signed 23.

we were in the top 20 in scoring(14th) and total defense(19th) the year before freeman got to south bend.

i like freeman and won't be angry if he's the next coach, but a lot of the hype is nonsense.
