Is it really masterful? Looks like a snap decision to me , and sadly I feel it is because LSU is getting Dabo. Why would OU want a career coordinator to be their next head coach? I would think OU could do better than that

Georgia hired Kirby, and I'd say it's working out well for them.

Defense will never be an issue. They might be getting DJ as well.

It's not a matter of being masterful or not. They really didn't see the Riley thing coming, which has led the class to fall apart in the last 24hours.
I suspect Castiglione had his short list ready to go with Riley linked to jobs left and right the past few years. So he went after it.

Now the next question is, who does he bring as OC.

uh, their previous head coach was hired as a coordinator, with no head coaching experience.

How can you tell? I think every AD should have his plan in place to replace every coach at a money sport. Woodward should know before the season starts who is his hire in football, basketball and baseball at a minimum. If a coach dies, quits, fricks a goat on TV, whatever, he should pick up the phone and start negotiating.
