Football will always be No. 1. People will try to tell you stories of how it was back in the day - I was there for the best of times for LSU hoops.

One story for me has always illustrated it for me. I think the year was 1991 - I may be a year off - but Shaq is here and we are playing a top 10 Bama team in Tuscaloosa. We go in there and beat them - huge win.

So I get on the radio the next day excited to hear some talk of the game on the local shows - but it's February and signing date is near and virtually no callers are calling in about the game - it's all football recruiting - and Curley is the coach and we're terrible.

So basketball school....whatever...it will always be a football school and I'm a huge hoops guy, but i realize reality. And so what anyway - I love both.

I just want to one day go to a local sports bar when LSU is playing on the road and just once not have to tell them the LSU basketball game is on and can you please put it on for me? I would like one day for the program to have advanced enough to where they would know it's on and have it on already without me asking. That would be enough for me.

Shaq era basketball was way more popular than football. People were camping overnight at the PMAC to get tickets while Tiger Stadium, which held 80k, was a little more than half full even when we played Arkansas to possibly get into a bowl after a 4 year drought. Football will always be king in Louisiana but there have been instances when basketball was the hotter ticket.

Cannot say how impressed I am with Wilkinson's hustle and defense. I love it. Man 4 years with him. He is such an over achiever. Getting tipins and boxing out dudes way taller then him every single time he gets in the paint. And he doesn't hack, he knows his limitations and fights to be in good position to overcome.

So excited about this dude guys like him make team fight harder and compete when they get shown up by smaller tougher dudes.

We have such a good team this year

I think that Basketball is #2. Despite its popularity at LSU baseball is nowhere near overtaking basketball from a profile/visibility standpoint. It makes more money too, if I’m not mistaken.

Wade has all his recruits. Should be held to same standard. Didn’t take Skip, Dale, Nick to turn things around. Why is this different?

Wat. LSU basketball won 2 SEC games in 2016-2017. 2 seasons later in Wade's second season, we lost 2 SEC games and won the SEC outright. I'm not even sure what your complaint is here TBH.

the number of games for which that happened (the camping overnight) is greatly overexaggerated - yes it happened a few times I remember. And yes there were times when basketball was winning and football was not and there was more enthusiasm for hoops. but I do think the example I gave gives a deeper insight into which is No. 1 which was my point - and it was during the Shaq era. There may be fleeting moments where the enthusiasm for basketball is higher, but that really wasn't my point.

And I say all that as a person who went to see the basketball team over the football team this past weekend.

We aspire to be a compete in championships in all SPORTS. There is no competition one sport versus another. No reason we can’t compete year in and year out for championships in Football, Baseball, basketball, track, women’s gymnastics, basketball, softball et al.

What??

Prior to wade...
(Lsu 2017 record 10-21, sec record 2-16, sec standings T-13th)

Wades first year made it to post season first time in 3 years

2018 record ,18-15 sec record 8-10, sec standings T-9th, nit second round

2019 record 28-7 sec record 16-2, sec standings 1st, made it to ncaa 3rd round, sweet 16 first time in 13years

2020 record 21-6, sec record 12-6, sec standings T-2nd, would have been a top 8 seed but COVID. Team had scrap and potential to lose first round or make it to elite eight. Really shitty luck at the end getting everything cancelled.

2021 record 19-10, sec record 11-6, sec standings 3rd, NCAA 2nd round 32.

LSU is most winningest team in SEC last three years combined.

LSU would have made the NCAA tournament 3 years in a row if it wasn't for covid for the first time since dale browns run off 82-93. If everything goes well this year this will be 4th tournament in a row..

Your crazy talking about standards... He is now best coach since dale brown and the legends of LSU basketball
