Proves to me that I think they are the one getting played. It doesn't line up with the things that trusted folks on are side are saying.

It almost sounds like the source saying he was staying that the Joey 247 mod guy posted earlier tonight is literally Bruce Feldman or similar.

LSU folks like Gruss aren't shite posting Jerry Seinfeld smoking a cigar memes if the talks are in their infancy.

It sounds like Riley is coming and downplaying it the Sooner side.

Update

So, as I am sitting there pretending to watch Hamilton (which I’m actually a huge fan of but work comes first, obviously) and my phone was blowing up left and right.

I exchanged a ton of text messages from several sources in the coaching and agent realm, along with Joey, Parker, and a few others throughout the evening/night.

What I was able to accrue was that Lincoln Riley and LSU is in its infancy stages as far as a possible offer going out/contact made. There is interest from LSU. We know that, but unsure if there’s serious interest at all on Riley’s end. Right now we hear that isn’t the case, but let me dive into why some sources feel that way:

First and foremost, sources I spoke were “concerned” with some of the buzz around Riley and LSU. However, they still feel Riley is “more than content” at OU, BUT things need “adjusted” as a source put it.

A few sources think Riley has an idea for where his program needs to be before Oklahoma makes their move to the SEC soon.

That said, Riley is still pretty pleased with the program he has built in five years in Norman (more than pleased to be honest) but he also knows things need — as stated above — ‘adjusted’ for him to continue to build the program he desires at OU, and one that is a perennial national title winner/contender.

On that same vein, it’s also no secret that Lincoln Riley loves it in Norman. He has been diligent, loyal, committed, all of the above to Oklahoma. However, the question now is how much is OU willing to invest into the program, as far as the extras go, to help Riley reach what he envisions this Sooners program becoming.

Sources seem to think OU will make concessions and investments, but demands/requests need to be heard and met, according to several sources. If not, this thing could take a wrong turn for Oklahoma. I’ll leave it at that.

With where Lincoln Riley has taken this program over the last 5 seasons, Riley more than deserves to be heard, in the opinions of several sources with knowledge of this situation. I would think most agree, too.

He has taken the program to a level that all that is left is a playoff win or national title. So If OU and Riley can start to talk — and agreements/concessions are made — this talk about Riley and LSU could come to a halt rather quickly, in my opinion.

On a side note: On my way to the play, I spoke to a well-connected source that told me, “Riley has been adamant with the Williams family that he was coaching through Caleb’s career (at OU) and that family continues to trust that.”

I have also been told that Riley informed a few targets, recently, that he had no plans on leaving. This was told to me over the last week or so. Obviously, that can change on both accounts, but I thought they it was pertinent enough to at least mention.

Furthermore, Joey commented on my first post about a source he spoke with that said Riley isn’t going to LSU at this time. I can confirm that his source is one of the better ones in this and they seemed to think the move “didn’t make much sense from a program perspective” and added, “internet trolls have perpetuated this thing into a much bigger deal than it needed to be.”

That’s also something that was conveyed to me by a few sources, as well. Just their opinion in the matter.

If we can get more information on this, we will update you all. The LSU interest in Riley is very real. That is me stating the Captain Obvious there.

But to rehash, nothing has been signed or even close to that yet. Because of what is stated above and below, we are leaning on Riley coaching in Norman during the 2022 season, but we aren’t naive to the fact this thing at least has some legs to it so we will continue to look around until it’s a done deal with a new coach at LSU or Riley adamantly denies it all.

We all know these things can turn and turn quickly.

So continue to stay tuned.

Sounds like ol Woodward soured the relationship between Riley and the boosters/school. Riley knows whats coming in the SEC, the boosters don't. The boosters think they will be able to continue their dominance on their shoe string budget compared to the budgets of SEC schools.

I would bet some serious money this is OU's athletic director throwing up a hail-mary. He wants to let the boosters know this is actually happening if they don't step up.

That’s a lot of words just to say “maybe”.

And why at 245am?

The deal is done, announcement is coming Sunday OU acted too late and their offer wasn't good enough. I know a businessman who is a donor in BR, he said massive contract incoming and Riley is coming. Get ready baws

I think they are getting played. They didn't believe any of this was real on Friday morning. Friday night they said it was real but definitely not happening. Now it's a maybe.

I normally don’t try to claim to have sources in any way, but I do have a very small source from the Oklahoma side. My best friend has family that plays for Oklahoma. I’m not going to throw a name out because I’m not going to throw a negative light on a kid in college just trying to play football.

My buddy told me that the young man was around the family for Thanksgiving and some stuff was asked around the table about LR future at Oklahoma and the kid replied “what future?”. He also told me that nothing has really been fed to the players OFFICIALY but that Lincoln has been deflecting LSU questions HARD even with players and he is scared it is going to bleed over onto the field Saturday.

This is a friend that has never lied to me about a thing in the 15 years we have been friends. I have NEVER claimed to have a source and outside of this situation I probably never will again. I’m as confident as it gets with this one.

OU is SOOOOOOO behind on this. They've been saying for weeks that this whole thing is ridiculous while some LSU people have been saying it's serious. Now all of a sudden they come out in the last 48 hours or so saying that Riley has some concerns/demands if he's gonna stay at Oklahoma. Do they think that LSU hasn't already assured him of all that stuff?

They sure are leaving themselves a lot of room to make excuses later for why he left.

Either Riley signed or he didn't if Ou wins out they are in the playoffs unless Bama beats UGA.

We will know today so much more but if OU continues to win then we will have to wait.

His sources should be the last ones to know. Riley’s not exactly going to profess his departure to all the OU boosters when he still has a game to coach. This is all a bunch of shitty circumstantial evidence. Could turn out right, but it’s not as direct as the evidence we are getting on the LSU side. It also doesn’t line up with former players literally saying they’ve been told who the new coach is already. We wouldn’t be having talks in their infancy with anyone if ink is dry.

I’d bet that Herbie will blow up the deal.

Announce it as a ‘done deal’. He’ll do something like ‘put Riley on the spot tied up in the middle of the 4th against Oklahoma State’.

When someone is getting left, they are always the last to know

You think Scotty is duck hunting while talking with Lincoln in the infancy stages??

People here are setting themselves up for the melt. I have a feeling that an offer may have been sent out to Riley and he hasn’t said yes or no. Oklahoma still has time to counter and give Lincoln what he wants to stay at the 11th hour.

But hey, if Scott pulls this off, congrats to him on a job well done.
