He was on the hot seat because the program was in a tail spin and that’s why wheels were set in motion after Auburn 2020. If O would have gone 7-3 in 2020, no one bats an eye. Rational fans expected some fall from grace after 2019. The problem with O is that he doesn’t solidify either side of the ball, he’s had too many mulligans at coordinator positions and to be honest his recruiting was starting to taper off. There were too many “sure things” that left him at the altar on NSD.
9-3 isn’t going to have you on the hot seat, but that sure as hell should be the floor for expectations.
