Riley will never be the GOAT coach at OU. He could easily get there at LSU.

OU has 3 coaches with national titles, and 2 of them have 3 titles. He would have to win at least 3 and probably 4 to put him above Barry Switzer in OU lore.

LSU does not have any coaches with multiple titles, and if Riley were to win more than 1, he would immediately be the GOAT in Baton Rouge.

LSU has never had a truly good-great head coach that has been there long enough to make it “his” program

No he won’t because he doesn’t commit resources to defense

He’s 38. He’s not gonna coach at LSU for 25 years. He may stay long enough to win 2, but he’ll eventually pull a Saban and have to scratch that NFL itch. And Saban would still get credit for Riley’s success—as he does for Miles’ and Ed’s—so I don’t think 2 would make him the unanimous GOAT at LSU, despite having twice as many as any previous coach. At this point, I think 1 at OU would be more fulfilling than 2 at LSU. But we don’t really know what’s most important to him regarding his career ambitions.

Huh?

Sabans players have been gone for over 15 years now. Also Miles and especially Ed O has destroyed everything Saban pretty much built in the LSU program.

If Riley comes in and picks this program back up to NC caliber on a yearly basis and wins 2 or more NCs then most definitely LR would be the unanimous GOAT coach at LSU. He would have a statue.
