"At 5:30 the next morning, my phone rang. It was the same person who had first sent the tip in August. We have a name, he said: Vance John Rodriguez. He texted two new photographs that looked just like Mostly Harmless."
"I and others worked to confirm his identity, with the first press story about Rodriguez appearing in late December in Adventure Journal. The puzzle was formally solved today, when Othram confirmed that the DNA of the hiker matched that of Rodriguez’s mother."

Interesting story, everyone has their demons, and everyone tries to tame their demons differently. At least he didn't hurt anyone too bad, he abused some girlfriends, but ultimately he didn't do something like climbing a tower and shooting a bunch of people. dude went for a walk and died alone.
Mental health is a big issue in this country that doesn't get the attention it needs.

I’ve followed this story for a few years, he was identified a few months ago. To no one’s surprise, his prior GF stated he was identified because he didn’t want to be. He was a hermit and self secluded.
He worked in BR for awhile and graduated from Comeaux High in Lafayette.

Why do we get a new thread on this guy every 3 months? He was a loner with no friends are family that even cared he was missing. Who cares? Might as well start posting every unidentified homeless man that dies because that’s essentially what this is equivalent to.

Dude wanted to escape and even in death they hound him down and release all his private info. What a joke of a world we find ourselves in.
