Pendulum swings both ways. They going forward more and more with this bs will undoubtedly cause a backlash that is in extreme the other way . Private security in neighborhoods that are professionals not mall cops breeding tribal areas which will move local politicians to be extreme hardliners . Remember all politics is local !

Man I should have ran to be a politician, I'd almost certainly have legal immunity and make bank for doing nothing but fricking with others; exempting ourselves from any new legislation.

The only point of cash bail should be to ensure the defendant shows up for the trial process.

That's it. Cash bail should never be used to "keep criminals off the street" You keep criminals off the street by having a functional justice system that moves fast, and hands out stiff no-BS sentences to those found guilty.

I don't have any idea WTF this has to go with gender or racial equity. You know what, it has nothing to do with it, but the dems who want criminals to never have to pay their price, because it's someone else's fault, have realized that if they simply use words like "gender equity" then more people will pay attention.

How can the federal government tell states how to handle bail for state and local crimes?

What does ending cash bail have to do with gender equity?

Nothing, but Climate change & Covid needed a break.

You ever see those videos in Portland and Seattle where some random person accidentally ends up in the middle of some antifa protest? The cops are just sitting around letting these people rule the streets then when that random person resists the protesters, the cops arrest and charge that person rather than the thugs. It's called anarchotyranny and the cops are all in on it.

I agree with all of this except "the cops are all in it". I believe most of the original Portland police force wanted to arrest the whole antifa gang but gave up when the Soros DA's let them loose. However I do suspect there is some radical left subversion of the police force in the northwest... undoubtedly placed in leadership and hiring positions. And I have no doubt replacement cops will not include conservatives. In the Northwest, new cops will have to be liberal and loyal to the cause. Same sort of actions taken to subvert the federal agencies.

If we are trying to end gender disparities, we need to address the fact that women outnumber men in society by 52 to 48, but men are incarcerated at a greater than 10 times rate!

Obviously our prison systems need to mirror societal ratios. Either lock up tens of thousands of women, or release the men. I better not give them any ideas.

I am fine will this, it's kind of stupid anyway. Either say the arrested person is too dangerous to be on the street and lock them up without bail, or turn them loose until they miss a court date. I don't like the "you are dangerous unless you have $200K" or "you don't have $300 bucks so you are dangerous" system we have now.
