There is a map on the Kisatchie website of the roads that are legal for driving on, but yes, you can drive down any open road, park, and walk in.
Most of the roads are open for driving, which honestly makes it difficult to get away from people, especially on weekends.
I've been hunting the Evangeline unit for 3 or 4 years now.

Thanks for that. Helpful. I was hoping to get out a scout a spot and learn the area but life got in the way. Any knowledge on just camping out there? Dispersed? or does it have to be in designated sites?
