I can’t figure out how to purchase shares during extended hours/after hours on Robinhood. I’d have made a killing if I could do that, but whenever I’d put an order in i had to wait until market opened/closed and it always rose when I wanted to buy or tanked when I sold and caused me to lose out on a lot of potential profit.

Before people make fun, i just started this. I spent months researching stock trading, the rules, the definitions of different terms, strategies. I know you can trade AH through an ECN. Maybe I haven’t figured out the app fully. I know I can set a limit order to go through during extended hours but how do you just buy/sell right when you want to?

I missed out bigly on DWAC due to this. Could have gotten in under 20 dollars but ended up getting in much higher due to waiting on market open for the buy order to complete

This is why I’m only using 2k to spread around. I’m trying to learn the ropes through small investments and recording the percentage gain/loss on each play. If I make a couple hundred bucks a week I’ll be happy. Trying to get my knowledge and confidence to where I can make some big plays. We have a million dollars in CDs and mutual funds and I keep 40-50k in my checking so access to funds isn’t an issue I just want to be stupid and lose thousands not knowing what I’m doing

If you want to trade right now (6am to 8:29am) you have to do a “day + ext” or “gtc + ext) order. You see this on the trade screen and is most likely defaulted to just say “day”.

You can also trade from 3 pm to 7 pm by doing the same “ext” order.

You can’t trade options pre/post market or do stops.
