There is no reason to can him this early. There is a time to fire him to get out ahead of other teams that are looking for coaches. But Oct1 isn’t it. Maybe a month from now, at the earliest

Agreed.

He's currently 3-2 (1-1). Looking at the rest of the schedule I think we can agree Alabama is the only team left against whom it looks like LSU has no shot. While maybe unlikely, if the team finishes 8-4 with some signs of improvement along the way then you could make the argument of wanting to see how the staff can perform with a year of experience under their belt. Plus, you'd be returning a solid group of experienced juniors and some sophomore who have shown flashes already.

Is that where the program should be 5 years into Ed's tenure and two years after a dominant 2019? One would think not. But (assuming LSU could recruit well again) 2022 could be his third straight top 5 class and the plague of James Cregg and his horrible recruiting has at least been removed. Given that it would be expensive to turn over the HC and staff....again...LSU might be willing to give O a "make or break" 2022 season

Les was stubborn. The glaring issues where there and he refused to try to fix them. O isn't stubborn. It's just that he doesn't quite know what he is looking for. One mindset at least gives you a CHANCE of improving while the other doesn't.

By the end of Oct. we will know where things stand. If LSU goes 0-4 or 1-3 vs. Auburn, Kentucky, Florida and Ole Miss, then it will be clear the program has given up on O and it is time to move on. If Auburn is the only loss of the 4, then we'll see what November brings.

It's not unlikely, it's impossible. We may not win another game, only exception would be A&M. It's a bad, bad situation and needs to be flushed.

I guess the only thing you can’t fall in to is him playing himself back into grace.

You could have talked me into this scenario 72 hours ago, but that ship has sailed baw.

It’s now simply a matter of when.

no we all dont agree, very few are this optimistic and the reality is they may not win another game this year. THAT is the most likely thing to happen the rest of the season

getting rid of ed now may help allow his assistants, knowing they are auditioning for jobs here or elsewhere next year, to actually be free from the idiot in charge and make the changes they need to make to win an unexpected game or two
