quote:Yeah I was thinking about just going here, especially since its now an 11am kickoff.
Regarding the LSU game - the "official" alumni bar is DS Tequila in Lakeview. However, the Standard is still an LSU bar (check out their Instagram).
Any word on if the section of Division that hoopsgalore mentioned still shuts down the streets and extends patios for Saturday gamedays?

Unfortunately I am unsure. The stretch he's referring to, looking at his post, is in Old Town. Which is also an awesome area, but the Standard is in Wicker Park, if that's what you were thinking.
I agree also that Wicker Park is probably one of, if not the best place for general bar/restaurant hopping. If you go to Standard for the 11 am game, you can leave and walk west on N. Milwaukee and that entire stretch is retail shops, bars and restaurants. You can also walk a little South and head to Division in Wicker Park and that stretch is also booming with places. He mentioned Bangers & Lace, which I second. Two of our favorite spots are right across the street from that - Mama Delia (formerly Black Bull) a great Spanish restaurant. And Pub Royale, which serves English/Indian food and has great drinks.
From there, you can hop on the Blue and go up to Logan Square and continue to do much of the same. Longman & Eagle is a short walk from the Logan Square blue line and one of my favorite restaurants in the city. It's a short walk to Hopewell Brewing. Bixi Beer is also close by there. There's a well thought of restaurant called Lula's Cafe. I've only been once and enjoyed it.
If you have to choose, I'd favor bar hopping in Wicker Park/Logan Square over Wrigleyville. Different vibes, for sure. But in either, you really can't go wrong.

The stretch of Division I was referencing is Gold Coast / Old Town border. To check if bars are still extending patios onto the street, give one a call (i.e. Hopsmith, The Lodge, etc.) and they’ll let you know definitively. I haven’t been down there since the 2020 CFB season.
The section of Division near Standard is in Wicker Park — number of good bars, but doesn’t shut down to vehicle traffic.
