The Junkyard Dog didn't need movie screens, smoke bombs, or pyrotechnics. All JYD needed was a boom-box and a cassette tape of Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust," and the place was LIT.
Anyone fortunate enough to have seen him wrestle live in Mid-South will attest to the fact that you rarely heard past the opening bass lick of the song before the crowd response drowned-out the music. The Dog was over like rover.
Another favorite ring entrance was that of "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, most notably as a heel. The Hot Rod would simply walk from the locker room area to the ring like most folks walk from their car to their apartment door. but the look on his face and the way he carried himself was enough to drive fans mad. The subtle head-bobs and the chewing gum were all he needed to make fans wanna kill him. The bagpipes were a nice touch, too.
Say what you will about pro wrestling, but Piper had fans in no less than New York City, at Madison Square Garden, eating outta the palm of his hand with his act. Many, many performers in the entertainment industry couldn't do that once; Piper did it monthly for years.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbow.gif)
