Started with YouTube TV about 6 months ago and while there aren’t issues with the service, it’s around $65/month and doesn’t seem like a great value.

Add Netflix and Prime and you’re at $100.

Anyone have a good alternative? As long as I have the local channels and ESPN.

Sports is the crux. I have you tube tv and out side of sports it’s useless.

I switched back to cable

I might save a few bucks a month streaming but the convenience of cable trumps it

I don't watch sports so I can't help you with that. But there is no need to pay for any kind-of streaming service for movies or television. There are numerous free streaming services that work really well.

You can save money on local channels by getting a cheap multi-directional antenna. Watching is free (after purchase of antenna) as long as you’re in range of the towers.

This is the problem. ESPN doesn’t have a cheap streaming option for the channels you want. ESPN+ doesn’t cover all the SEC/Alt channels.

You either have to have a TV provider subscription, or pay for it through YouTube TV.

There are free websites that host these channels. As long as you can hook your computer up to the TV, you’ve got free ESPN/SECN streaming options.

I have Disney +, Hulu, ESPN +, Netflix, Apple TV, paramount +, HBO Max, and prime.

Most of the time I watch cable unless it’s a series I like on the other services.

I have had my current cable for 3+ years so I no longer have a contract. I can cancel at anytime and just return the box. The rest of my TVs are smart TVs with Roku built in.

I have hulu, but it costs the same as YTTV. I have it for the history channel or I would probably have YTTV, but they do have a nice library of archived content.

I have YoutubeTV using Chromecast for youtube tv and it's money. additionally, I would pay for other streaming services like Netflix regardless of using cable or not so I don't factor that into monthly costs.

We have YouTube TV, Netflix, Prime and HBOMax. The latter came free with ATT internet service. Once football season is over I will cancel YouTube TV as that’s the only reason we have it. Being able to cancel at anytime - thus only paying for half a year - is the main advantage.

For sports, I've found there really isn't a comparison to a package like Youtube TV or Hulu Live. Not sure what these services that offer full packages are gonna do once certain sports hit certain platforms exclusively.

I just don't want to watch most networks. Anything really important is on NBC/FOX/CBS over the air. All the good shows are on streaming platforms. This isn't really a money thing more than it is a content thing. I've tried to just flip on YouTube TV when there aren't any sports on and it's garbage. Even if there is a good movie on or something, I can just go rent it on Amazon for 2.99 and get better quality and no commercials. And that's if it isn't free somewhere else.

From August to December we have:

YTTV
Hulu
Netflix
Prime
Discovery+

We watch these on our Roku TV, which I like a lot. Take away YTTV from January to August.

If you wanna be a cord cutter and still get sports, its tough, but it can be done. You have to know what to click on and what to avoid or you can really frick your computer up. But it's pretty easy to avoid if you've been doing it for a while. Especially for NFL, I rarely watch a game that isn't on a stream, because I'm always getting San Francisco or Seattle games up here on the local networks.

Check out IPTV. You'll have to Google it....for reasons I won't dive into here. I pay $10/month and get basically every channel, can watch ANY football game I want, and PPV for free.

But, you didn't hear that from me.

Youtubetv is dropping all NBC channels at midnight tonight and dropping the price to $55 until they reach a deal.

NBC is trying to force youtube to package peacock online with youtube. It won't operate within the yttv app. You'll have to leave yttv and open the peacock app to watch anything on NBC.

So far yt has told NBC to go **** themselves.
