I’ve been several times. Enjoyed each time. It’s a bucket list place for golfers. I don’t know if they still have it, but The Pinecrest Inn has a dining room and a bar. Some late nights, after the dining room was vacated, the bar patrons (all golfers) would but up a dollar each and attempt to chip balls into the fireplace across the room. First one in would win the pot, then it would start all over again. $1 for each round. Money added up. I lived a hour from there in 1990. Played regularly with an older guy (70s) who said when he was in high school, they would go drive over in the summer and play (at that time they had 4 courses). He said IF they could find someone, it was $1 to play. He said most times they could walk on for free. All the snowbirds were back north in summer time. The resort was open from October thru May.
