The nola.com article wasn't the negative article I thought it'd be from the headline. It stated some obvious stuff (performance has been underwhelming, Zion relationship is weird, etc) and the stuff it "revealed" doesn't sound so negative. Griffin has tried to create some relationship with Zion but it's not worked. Yeah, can say some of it like the piano thing are weird but it was at least an effort. There's plenty to question about the roster and coaching decisions but there's plenty in there indicating the organization doesn't sound "toxic." Griffin has tried to create a caring atmosphere and passed out some books to try to help rally the team? Maybe weird but for sure not "bad."
Regarding the bubble injury, you'd think the way the Pelicans handled it would improve the team's relationship with Zion by protecting his reputation by coddling. And Zion didn't like his injury and "bursts" management but he's been mostly since he played his first game here (finfer injury at end of year having nothing to do with how medical team has managed him). I think that only shows that the medical team has handled him properly. When he does have issues with weight and the hamstring that sounds entirely like Zion's responsibility.
It reads like it was started as some "hit piece" but writer could only get a few low level staffers to say a few things that amount to mostly a nothingburger.
