Not a bad idea in concept but the door will be moving in and out depending on wind direction so I would put a cushion or blanket between the bumper and the door so you don't get scratches.

I would put a piece of plywood up next to the door, then put a blanket, door mat or something to protect the vehicle bumper.
If no plywood, use a couple of boards. Maybe tie the boards to the door to hold them in place.
