Truck Market

I am going to be in the market for a new truck very soon and the truck market right now is just insane. I know I can get a decent amount on a trade in, and used prices are damn near the same as new. I'm curious as to what will happen to prices once this chip shortage is over. Seems to me like everyone will get used to paying these prices so they won't come back down. Thoughts?

Is your current vehicle giving you problems?

The only free lunch right now is selling an extra vehicle. The premium you get for your old truck is gladly paid by dealers.

This will definitely not be the new normal for used car market. It's up a way too insane amount that simply wont last once new car stock gets normalized again from chip shortage.
If you're looking to buy used and can wait, do it. It sounds like you were looking at slightly used though. if thats the case, then just buy new, because for the most part slightly used ISNT worth it right now as you said those prices are like buying new basically. While new car prices are up, they arent up even close to what used car prices are.

A buddy of mine just traded his in. He had it for 2 years with 60k miles on it. They gave him what he paid for it.

Prices will come back down. No one is going to pay MSRP for a F150 or Silverado if they don't have to.

Not a truck, but I sold a fleet managed company Subaru in about 5 weeks. Bought for $14.5. With tax was at $15.5k. First dealer offered $17.2, second $17.6 and third $18.6. It had 2 accidents on it.
Signed the papers and pocketed the $3100. Easiest deal ever.

Now y’all have me wondering how much I could sell me 2016 F250 XLT diesel with 59 k miles for. I don’t drive it much and I have another truck. Where is the best place to advertise vehicles these days? I hear a lot of people say Facebook marketplace to sell stuff but I don’t do social media.
