The o-line is the strength of their team. Should be a fun matchup of strength vs. strength, especially between their LT Sean Rhyan (who will get drafted in the top 3 rounds) and Gaye. For a half or so, they might have some success running the ball with their RBs and talented QB DTR, but we’ll open the game up in the 2nd half. Should be an entertaining one!

what’s their size look like? Kelly’s Oregon teams always had small, mobile OL.

They’re on the small side I’d say, especially compared to the SEC. The average is about 6’4 305. However, what makes them good is their experience. Almost all seniors except 1 Junior if I’m not mistaken.

They are much more physical team than any LSU fan is giving them credit for. If we're out of position in our run fits and can't set the edge like we struggled to last year, they will carve us up all night long.

Yep, especially with chip kelly’s offensive trickery. However, I trust Daronte Jones. I can’t wait!

Chip's run game switched to more of a gap scheme last season, with lots of pulling, trapping, and unbalanced formations. You won't see them them just lining up and blasting people, the scheme is based on messing with the linebackers' gap responsibilities from play to play. It's a bit like an option team, where you might stop a few plays in a row, but it just takes one linebacker misreading the run fit and you have a giant hole to run through.

LSU should have a physical advantage in the matchup, but UCLA's O-line is very experienced and disciplined, so it will take an equally disciplined and mistake-free effort from LSU to shut the run game down. Should be the most fun matchup of the game as OP said.

If we can’t feast on UCLA’s OL we have no shot to get pressure vs Bama etc

It’s just the first game. We’ll be a much better team by the time that we play bama.

On offense. Their front 7 on D is a mess. Their top 247 guy was on the College Football Daily Podcast recently and said the front 7, especially the D Line, is a big unknown and likely the team’s biggest weakness.
