Your recruiter probably never even sees your resume before you get rejected

Have to throw hundreds of apps out and network on LinkedIn then hope you get lucky to get anything

My wife works as a recruiter for companies that have DOD contracts. The problem that she is running into is two fold.

First is the lower end that apply for an entry level position but take their time in getting back in touch

Second problem is not minority hiring quotas, but what she calls superman job descriptions. They put out the job posting and they can find candidates that will check 5 of 6 boxes....but the contractor wants that 6th one...usually a certification.

Also because she deals with tech heavy there are a lot of requests for remote options....for Secret clearances you can get that flexibility but for TS/SCI you really cannot.

I dont go out to eat much, maybe once or twice a month when the wife just wants a break or the kids really want to go out for some favorite snack food they like at some chain.

In the past three months, lots of places are short of workers. Very short. As in, turning customers away because even though tables are empty the kitchen is short staffed or there aren't enough waiters.

I cannot believe they would prefer to let that happen while simmply waiting for some gay or black person to show up asking for a job but not taking whites.

I find it far more believeable that they don't want to pay well or take care of insurance or demand extra hours but no overtime pay, etc.

You could make so many Mail jokes with that one.

The post office interviews people about as fast as it takes to deliver the mail.

Probably takes another 4 weeks to find out if you get the job, if the letter doesn’t get lost in the mail.

I’m 100% with you. I lost my job about halfway through the start of covid and I’ve applied for 10-20(at times more)jobs total every 2 weeks and not even a call or email saying we didn’t select you. Also, I was given vacation and severance so I didn’t qualify for the unemployment. I have to wait until it runs out first.

In my state, you must pay OT and wages have gone up almost across the board. Help wanted signs everywhere. hotel workers who recently received raises are skipping out on work. They just recently had to hire more staff because furloughed workers don’t want to come back.

People don’t want to work and have found ways to game the system so they can lay around all day

Do you work in which one?
Neither specifically. But friends, family and collegues in both. Hell, you could just check out twitter and see all of the "hey, we're hiring with preferences for BIPOC applicants" posts. It's only a secret if you've got your head up your in an anatomically uncomfortable position.

And how many white people are you turning away for jobs till s minority applies?
I hire people, but I'm no racist. Cute trying to make this about me in some way.

I know I've hired white people in the last year for tech jobs as well as expanded offshore resource usage wh n we couldn't hire enough here.
That's nice.

I know a highly qualified (react coder), male, over 50 that could not get hired for 14 months. Go have a look at the number of react jobs open...
