Yup. I had a rep who would get off work on Friday and work Postmates and Uber all weekend for an extra $20k or so a year.

Another good tactic would be to kinda shake your hips and exaggerate your speech in a sissy kind of way when being interviewed. This will get you a job anywhere. Once you get the job, just pretend to be gay when the boss is around.

I have seen people in interviews at food places that were wearing pajamas and wouldn't stay off of their phone long enough to complete the interview.

I saw Arby's and Taco Bell signs saying they're paying $14-16/hr, in Missoula, MT.

I recommend he network and consider some opportunities that might be available with people he knows. So much is done through the shadow job market now that some positions aren't even posted, and even if they are, it's to say they opened it up even though they had their candidate in mind already.

Companies like ZipRecruiter and others have commoditized the hiring process and removed a lot of the human element to even have a conversation. I can see the desire for efficiency and a broad applicant base, but from the applicant side, it's a pain.

Crayons? He's a Marine. Why would he use up a perfectly good food source?

Encourage him to apply with some temp agencies. Can be a way to get foot in the door with some companies. Also, do some follow up with the other applications, make phone calls, check status, etc.

Answer “other” on the race question. I’ve never seen Cajun or French American listed...

Seriously, I got so many calls when I stopped answering the race question as white.

He needs to look for companies that specifically have veteran hiring programs.

You finally nailed it. People do not realize how automated it is now.

The best thing to do is to fake a genealogy report. Make it show that you are something like 25-40% African, preferably African-American, and tell them that all your friends and family have always been black.

At least make it show that you have some type of African ancestry and tell them that you've been passed down stories about your blackness by all your relatives, even if you are white as an eggshell.

Not a fricking chance.

I'll tell them I am White and proud of it.

If it comes down to mine or my family's survival. I will simply take from their "of color" asses. Just like they have been doing for centuries.

Tell him to get a CDL.

He can make $50-120K and get a job immediately.

I have a friend that does some recruiting for companies. He has had people specifically ask him if there is a way to filter out white applicants. He told them.....that is discrimination.
