I'm pretty sure the late-first and early-second century Christians would have disagreed with you had they lived to see the fourth and fifth centuries. St. John the Evangelist's entire Apocalypse (aka Revelation) was likely centered on the promise of the Fall of the Roman Empire and the rise of Christianity.

But Rome didn't fall, it adopted Christianity and rolled right on. Rome adopted Christianity in 307 and the West didn't fall for another 170 years. The East rolled on until 1453.

There have been plenty of "Christian" empires that rose and fell since Rome. The Holy Roman empire, Spain, France (twice), Austria-Hungarian empire, Prussian, British Empire, etc. The map is littered with crumbled states and changed governments many devolved into anarchy, murder and chose.
