You do realize that is how we got here in the first place right?
We supported Saddam against Iran; We funded, trained and equipped Osama and the Afghans against the Russians; We actually assisted ISIS against Assad. We have a pretty poor track record of supporting the wrong people by proxy. The list of backing the wrong horse goes further back if you care to dig.
