Mic’d up coach for Nebraska calls time with one out left and his team up 6.

Goes up to the mound to tell his players he loves them, starting it off with “the is the most important thing I’m going to say and I don’t say it enough blah blah blah…”

And then his 3rd baseman jumps in with “put the knife in their throat?”

Well done, kid.

I don't feel like a coach telling his team that he loves them is really "virtue signaling."

The kid's comment was funny, though.

These coaches know they’re mic’d up and want to go viral.

Coach is a douche. It was a total orchestrated move because he knew he was mic'd. He wanted to have the clip that all the travel ball moms share on FB with heart emoji's and "This is why we sacrifice every weekend for 40 weeks a year" etc.

And the kid totally ruined it. I love it

When you’re mic’d up and know you are? Coach was doing it for show IMO.

the other kid knew his coach was mic'd up thus knew the coach wanted his mic'd up moment.

That's certainly possible. Just don't know if I would call that virtue signaling, at least not the kind of virtue signaling that we typically see.

Yeah not the typical variety, but the shoe fits here:

Why the frick else do you call a mound visit up 6 runs with one out left?

You think the coach randomly thought “I really need to go tell the team I love them”

Calm yourself, man. I didn't say it wasn't attention grabbing, I just didn't feel like it fit into what I traditionally think of as virtue signaling. Slackster showed that it does fit the definition, though, so I won't dispute it further.

That kid ruined what probably took that coach last night to write just in case this scenario arose

He should’ve been calling it to check on his left fielder who will probably need Tommy John surgery at 12.

I love how we all have such strong opinions on this coach we've never heard of.

Anyone else would have earholed that kid when he ducked at plate ...
And then again just for his shades?

Of course it was. He stopped the game with 1 out left and a big lead to do it because he knew he was mic'd up. If he wasn't doing it to virtue signal, he'd have waited for one more out and made his little speech to the team in a post-game huddle.

Earlier in the video, prior to the timestamp, the same coach had to tie a kid's shoe at the plate because his right arm was causing him so much discomfort. Weird way to show love, but each its own.
