They will certainly try. But insisting that there wouldn’t be a repeat of Saigon in 1975 only to be proven wrong nearly instantly is going to be something hard to overcome.

Isn’t this odd? Columns of Taliban moving on the roads in the open. Taliban emplacements in the open and not even the threat of US or coalition air strikes to tidy up that situation.
We’re apparently squeamish at sending thousands of terrorists to meet Allah. Yet we can stand by, let a blood bath ensue among the poor deluded, deceived, and betrayed Afghans who put their faith in America while America’s leaders try to bribe the Taliban with US taxpayers’ dollars.
We’re well past inept, farcical and absurd. We’re rushing headlong into outright evil and our leaders and nearly half of our citizens are either unaware, don’t care, or embrace it.

They aren't at Bagram as that was shut down last month.

Wow. And this is sadly just the beginning of what is probably going to be a tragedy at that airport. It might end up making Saigon look orderly and safe by comparison.

Those poor kids. I can’t help but put myself in the shoes of that lady towards the beginning holding a 4 or 5 year old girl. Walking into that chaos. I can’t even imagine.

This. Ain’t no A-10 or apaches gonna darken the horizon. Logistically we shot ourselves in the arse for that. Plus, and I can’t believe I’m gonna say this, we are at the good graces of the freaking taliban. Should we somehow light up columns of those guys, we sign the death warrants for everybody at that airport. Their arty will render the runways Swiss cheese and they can waltz in at their pleasure and do what they want. (Can anyway but they are playing “nice” for now.)
